George Washington Bryson

North Carolina State Troops, CSA

Born:  Apr 23, 1825, Cullowhee, Haywood Co., NC             Died:  Dec. 28, 1863 at Rogersville, TN


George enlisted in the Confederate Army on July, 1862 at Quallatown, North Carolina in Thomas' Legion as a Private in Company "F" also known as "Conley's Sharpshooters".  He was transferred to the Commissary Dept. on March 7, 1863 and promoted to Sergeant sometime later.  On Sept. 1, 1863 he was promoted to Ordnance Sergeant and transferred to the Regiment Staff (F & S).   George died of fever while serving his country on Dec. 28, 1863 at an encampment near Rogersville, TN. 


Lt. Col. William W. Stringfield said in his papers  "Dec. 29 - Broke camp & moved toward Austin Mills & Russellville, TN.   Sgt. Geo. W. Bryson, Co. "F" died here a day or so ago. Splendid man."


His final resting place is unknown.   My GG Grandfather.

Francis "Frank" Marion Luckett

Born: 1830, Kentucky        Died: Oct 1872, Arkansas


Frank enlisted in the 30th Arkansas Infantry on Jun 14, 1862 at Little Rock, AR.   Surrendered on May 26, 1865.    The 30th Arkansas Infantry was organized on June 18, 1862, Assigned to McRae's Brigade, Hindman's Division, January through February of 1863. Reassigned to Tappan's Brigade under MG Sterling Price in April, 1863 where the regiment fought in the Battle of Helena and in the defense of Little Rock on September 10, 1863. Retreated with Price into southwestern Arkansas, where the regiment was consolidated with the 32nd Arkansas Infantry in December, 1863. Fought throughout the Camden Campaign and at Jenkins' Ferry on April 30, 1864. Consolidated again with Dawson's Infantry Regiment in April, 1864. Remained in service in southwestern Arkansas until surrendered with Major General Kirby Smith's army on May 26, 1865.  Lana's GG Grandfather.
